Woman and husband forced 40 Bangladeshi women into prostitution in Dubai: RAB. In 2022, the Rapid Action Battalion in Bangladesh apprehended a woman who, together with her husband residing in Dubai, was allegedly operating a trafficking ring for the past two years.

The individual identified as Onamika Akhter Kakoil, 23, was taken into custody by a team from RAB-3 in South Keraniganj following complaints filed by a victim’s family.

After the  initial questioning, Bina Rani Das, the additional superintendent of police responsible for operations and intelligence at RAB-3, stated that Kakoli confessed to her involvement with her husband, Rafiqul Islam Rana, 34, in luring 40 Bangladeshi women with fraudulent employment offers at dance bars in the UAE.

“As soon as these women arrived in Dubai, they were coerced into prostitution at various hotels to repay the debts they had accumulated for airfare and visas,” explained the RAB officer.
