Undercover as a slave Part 4: Journalist taken to slave market. In the fourth part of her story, the journalist from New Vision expressed gratitude for being able to undertake this investigation and return safely to Uganda. With the approval of New Vision, she willingly became a victim of trafficking. She gained unauthorized entry into Entebbe Airport with a fraudulent visa, only to end up detained by an agent.

The journalist clearly stated that in order to regain their freedom, they had to be sold to employers. Or repay the money the agent, known as Sara, spent to “purchase” them—money used for visas and tickets. Sara would sell some of them online, while the remaining individuals had to await their turn at the slave market.

Upon being taken to the slave market, the journalist was informed about the happenings there. However, when the day arrived on January 28, she was still shocked by the degrading, inhumane, and cruel atmosphere. That day shattered her faith in humanity, as she witnessed the lengths people would go to exploit others for the sake of financial gain.
