In a 2022 article, a 40-year-old Thai woman recounts her harrowing escape from forced prostitution in Dubai and appeals for assistance for her three remaining friends who are still held captive by a group of Thai brokers in the UAE.
Identified by the pseudonym Ms. A, she hails from the Sri Saket province in northeast Thailand. According to her, she and three other Thai women fell victim to the deceptive tactics employed by the brokers. Initially promised gardening jobs in Dubai, they were enticed with a monthly salary ranging from 80,000 to 100,000 baht.
However, upon their arrival in Dubai, the women were coerced into working as waitresses in a restaurant. Subsequently, they were transferred to a massage parlor where they were forced into a life of prostitution, as revealed by Ms. A.
In today’s world, it is more imperative than ever to tackle the alarming rise of human trafficking.

About two weeks ago, the consulate assisted Ms. A with her return to Thailand. She fled Sri Saket province to reside with relatives at a secret location in Buriram province. This was when she spotted the broker’s ad on Facebook promising a 10,000 baht reward for information on her whereabouts.
Ms. A claims that her three companions, two from the province of Buriram and one from the province of Ubon Ratchathani, are still being held captive at the massage parlor and want assistance. She has talked to the appropriate Thai officials, who she is certain will be able to assist the ladies.
