BI rescues three human trafficking victims bound for the Middle East. The Manila Bureau of Immigration (BI) has shared the news that they recently rescued three individuals. They were suspected victims of human trafficking.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said they were not allowed to proceed with their travel to Lebanon, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This after being assessed as “clear victims of human trafficking”.
The victims, who declared they were embarking on a leisurely vacation to Malaysia, revealed the truth. They had willingly taken up the role of domestic helpers. Furthermore, one of them was discovered to possess a forged visa for Saudi Arabia, bound for the UAE.
